Luke: Mama, how does Archen Detail look?
Mama: Who?
Luke: You know, that guy in Star Wars, Archen Detail?
Mama (after a pause): … Do you mean R2D2?
Luke: Oh. Well, I like to call him Archen Detail.

Long Awaited Beach Photos
I have finally managed to get all of our family pictures from the beach up to Phanfare for viewing. (I’m still waiting on shared pictures from extended family members, so I’ll add those and link to any notable ones when they arrive.)
We had a wonderful time at Nags Head. We stayed in a house called The Atlantis – 10 bedroom, 6.5 bathrooms, semi-oceanfront, decks on the second and third levels, located around milepost 14.5!

We had lots of fun just hanging around the house …
And walking on the beach …
On Thanksgiving Day, we took some family photos …
(Which is how we got our favorite family photo.)
And had a wonderful dinner at the Lone Cedar …
On our way out of town, we got to stop and play mini-golf with Pop-Pop, some uncles and a cousin!
All in all, a fun, relaxing and family-full vacation!
As always, click on any photo to view the entire album.
Just for You, Auntie Terri ...
We’ve all been enjoying the pictures that Auntie Terri sent us of our time at the beach, but Bo-Bo has been enjoying them most of all. She’s been carrying them around, naming the people in the pictures, and of course, sharing them with Henry!
Click on the picture to view the rest of the pics in the album, plus some video of Henry and Bo-Bo. (Warning: The last video is almost 5 minutes long and nothing earth-shattering happens in any of them. It’s just life with my babies.)

Foofie Funnies (yes, there are always more)
Foofie needed to make an apology to a sibling, but she was a little too fussy to begin speaking when her Daddy asked her to, so she explained, sobbing, “First I need to calm up!”
Nana brought Snowman Peeps for the children today. Each child had one after they finished their lunch. When Foofie got down from the table, her peep still looked basically the same, except that it had tooth marks all over it and the sugar crystals were gone. She explained, “I only like the frost.”
The lion in the Chronicles of Narnia is called “Asland”.
Originally Foofie thought Eve was tempted in the Garden of Eden by a “servant.” However, she now understands that it was a snake.
Mama: Why were Adam and Eve hiding?
Foofie: Because they were naked and they were thinking, ‘This is so embarrassing!’
Mama: Why were they so embarrassed?
Foofie: Because the snake was there and he was looking at them.

Special Tools
Tonight we were playing a board game as a family, and Matt got to draw a Treasure Card. The card said that his Hero had gained a new tool: a Dragon-Tooth Pick.
Immediately, Luke and Emma both shouted, “A Dragon Toothpick?!?! Wow!!”
Making Waves
Last night, Emma was reading from a Bible story book about Jonah. I loved her commentary on one page.
Emma: “As soon as Jonah hit the water, the sea became calm” … except for the huge splash that Jonah made.

Recent Funnies ...
Emma (while we were at the beach): Mama, what restaurant are we going to for Thanksgiving?
Mama: It’s called the Lone Cedar.
Emma (after contemplating for a moment): Hmm. I guess they must have only one seat.
We’ve had some sickness in the family this week and one morning Ruth just didn’t feel like getting out of bed. I told her I would come and get her up but that I would have to change Henry and Robyn’s diapers and take them downstairs first. Apparently it took longer than Ruth thought, because when I came back up stairs, she was crying. However, when she saw me, she immediately cheered up, and made this observation (totally Foofie style).
Foofie: I was lying down while I was crying, so the tears were not going onto here [pointing to her cheeks] but they were going onto my nose!
I was trying to buy something on-line, but all the various color options seemed to be out of stock. With each selection, an error message (and the corresponding MS Windows error sound) kept occurring.
Foofie (watching over my shoulder): Why does it keep on saying “Pa-Woom”?
(It does kinda sound like that when you listen to it.)

Nags Head for Thanksgiving
We just returned from a lovely week in the Outer Banks with my side of the family. I’ve got TONS of pictures to process and post, but until then, here’s my favorite. J

Funny Foofie
Some funny tidbits from our middelest child …
Foofie (going into the bathroom, where no light was turned on): Please can you turn off the darkness for me?
Foofie (when putting on shoes): I am very confusing of which foot this goes on!
Foofie (to Mama after getting up in the night to go potty): Can I sleep in your bed with you?
Mama (assuming Foofie is thinking of naptime when she sometimes gets to snuggle in with Mama): Well, there’s no room in my bed right now!
Foofie: Oh, who’s in there?
Mama: Daddy!
Foofie: Oh. But is he sleeping in the middle?
(She got to snuggle in with us for about 15 minutes just for that bit of cuteness!)

Flashback - More December 2009
Here are some more of the Christmas-y events we spent time on that year. Granny and Granddaddy gave the children some Grinch lacing cards.
And since we did almost all of our gift shopping via Amazon (due to Mama being about 4 weeks postpartum), we had plenty of box-material to make a sleigh –
even one big enough to fit three (small-bottomed) people!

Flashback - December 2009!
So, after further review, I have discovered that I am behind in my posting as far back as December, 2009! Yikes! So I’m going to have to alternate “Flashbacks” with “Real Time” posts so that I can catch up without missing out on current events! Here’s your first Flashback. Nana came to visit us and give Luke a haircut shortly after Robyn was born. Here are some pictures of our sweet little lady and family!
My Beautiful, Funny, Smart, Perfect (?) Children
Dear Readers of this Blog,
Glad to have you for a visit. If you are looking for some laughs and some updates, welcome, welcome. If you are looking for a completely well-rounded look at the highs and lows of mommy-ing, you won’t find it here. The primary imagined audience of this blog are the grandparents, aunties, uncles, etc, so a fair amount of “showing off” is to be expected. Of course, anyone may read. But if you’re another mommy, you may not read this blog with the understanding that this is the whole picture. It is not. I don’t use this blog to share my children’s faults (well, maybe the innocent, funny ones) not because they don’t have them, but because that’s private. I’m just sharing the joys and the smiles, so read with perspective. J

Back On-Line
Well, it’s been a while! Since I last posted, we’ve bought a house and had another baby! We’ve just recently upgraded to DSL (from dial-up) so hopefully I can get back to posting more regularly. We have tons of photos to upload to Phanfare and link to the blog, so I’ll have no lack of material to blog about! J
