Luke (from the bed): Daddy …
Daddy (entering Luke’s room): Yes, little boy? What do you need?
Luke: I need a drink … I mean, I need to go potty.
Daddy: Well, which is it?
Luke: What do you mean?
Daddy: Do you need a drink, or do you need to go potty?
Luke: You pick.
[translation – I need to get out of bed for whichever excuse you deem viable!]

Relatively Speaking
While Luke was having some “Daddy Time” as a last special event on his birthday (yesterday), I was putting the girls to bed and talking to them about the blessings of a big brother. And, of course, in thinking of one of my favorite recent blessings of having brothers, I had to mention the Auntie potential …
Mama: When Luke has children, you guys will be Aunties! Luke’s children will call you [to Emma] “Autie Emma” and they will call you [to Ruth] “Auntie Ruth”!
Ruth: And they will call you “Auntie Mama”!

Little Real Estate Agent
I was looking at homes on-line. Emma was watching over my shoulder. Can you tell she’s been home-shopping with us?
Emma: That looks like a nice home. I think I want to live there.
Emma: Does it have a nice neighborhood?
Emma: I think we should look at that one.
Emma: I think that’s off

Livestock and Helpers
Matt: So, what did Job loose?
Luke: Well, pretty much all his livestock … except for his wife.
Mama: Hey, Foofie Poofie!
Ruth: I not Foofie Poofie. I Foofie.
Mama: Are you also Ruth?
Ruth: Yes
Mama: And are you also Ruthie?
Ruth: I Ruth Susanna … or Ruth Cay-loo-line.
Mama: No, you can’t be Ruth Caroline. Caroline is Emma’s middle name.
Ruth: I not Emma Cay-loo-line! I Foofie Susanna!
Ruth: And Mama is Mama.
Ruth: And Daddy is the helper.

Homeschool Field Trip!
Today, we took our first homeschool field trip! We visited the fire station where four very kind fire fighters gave a wonderful 2-hour presentation and tour to our whole group of little people – ten children ranging in age from 2 to 7 years old (not counting Robyn, who slept in the backpack on my back for most of the time). It was a lot of fun, and we all learned a lot!
Luke and Emma drive the fire engine!
Ruth puts out a fire with the hose from the brush-fire-fighting Jeep!

Luke and Jill
This was a first for us. Luke did these totally on his own. He made up the sentences himself (though they contain pieces that are familiar from his K5 workbook). And he spelled everything on his own, though he insisted on help with "gunna" (as in “gunna get …”).
How fun to be entering this new
(“Jill will get a hot dog.”)
(“Is Jill going to get five pieces of gum?”)

A Little Tidbit
OK, I know I’m way behind in my posting … snow … Christmas … etc. So, here’s just a little tidbit to hold you over until I can get the rest sorted, organized and shared!
There’s enough sweetness just in that one shot to last a long time. But if I take too long to post again, you can click on the picture to see more!
