On a few occasions, Luke has been able to unlock and open our front door with some assistance. I wasn’t aware that he could do it completely on his own … until yesterday. I was in my room at the end of the hall when a visitor walked down the hallway, let in by Luke! I hadn’t even been aware that someone had knocked! Thankfully, it was my mother, so all was well. But after this, we had a conversation about opening the front door without permission.
My main point was that we don’t ever, EVER open the door without permission from Mama. I stressed that we lock the door to keep ourselves safe and we shouldn’t open the door for anyone without checking with Mama first. However, a secondary point was that Mama would rather not be surprised by a visitor (even someone we know) when, for example, she is using the bathroom.
Today, while reviewing the guidelines, Emma, summed up the importance of the second point this way: “Yes, because [someone]* might come in and make you un-modest!”
